# FTPS 

FTPS is the **older** protocol and is provided for backwards compatibility only. It uses **implicit FTP over TLS**. Unless you have an existing integration that requires FTPS, use [SFTP](/technical/ftp-sftp) instead.

Connect using the host and port shown on the **FTPS** card of the **Server Monitor** screen, for example:

ftps://public-demo.modlr.cloud:2221
```

## Accounts

FTPS provides two accounts:

* **`writer`** - read and write access.
* **`reader`** - read-only access.

Click the eye icon to reveal a password, or the copy icon to copy it to your clipboard.
