# Embed Tokens

An embed token is a URL that gives access to a single screen without requiring a MODLR login. Embed tokens are created within an application, directly from the screen they grant access to.

## Access control

* **Public or password-protected** - an embed token can be generated to require a password on access, or left open for anyone with the URL.
* **Element-level access** - within the embed token, access can be set at an element level, scoping what data the screen shows independently of any requesting user, since there is no logged-in user.

## Use cases

Embed tokens are useful for sharing a screen outside of MODLR, for example embedding it in an external website via an iframe, or sending a link to someone without a MODLR account.

## Examples

These are examples of embeds built by the MODLR team, showing what an embedded screen can look like:
