# Set The Alias For The Set / Show Alias

Displays this set's elements using a specific alias, overriding whatever the dimension's default alias is. Useful when one report needs to show friendly names in some columns and codes (or a different alias entirely) in others - each set on the Workview can specify its own.

::: tip Shown per alias, not as one generic instruction
The available instructions panel lists one entry per alias defined in the model, each labelled `Show Alias: <alias name>` (e.g. `Show Alias: Number - Name`) - pick the entry for the alias you want, rather than adding a single instruction and typing the alias name in.
:::

#### Example

```
1. Element: All Accounts
2. Set The Alias For The Set: Number - Name
```

Shows account `200` as `200 - Sales` rather than just `200`, without changing the dimension's default alias used everywhere else.

![Account 200 shown as just "200" by default, and as "200 - Sales" once Set The Alias For The Set: Number - Name is applied](/set-instructions-example-alias.svg)
