# SYD 

Calculates the sum-of-years'-digits depreciation of an asset for a specified period.

```js
SYD(cost, salvage, life, period)
```

#### Parameters

* `cost` - The initial cost of the asset.
* `salvage` - The value of the asset at the end of its useful life (salvage value).
* `life` - The total number of periods over which the asset is depreciated.
* `period` - The specific period of the asset's life for which to calculate depreciation.

#### Examples

```js
SYD(1000, 100, 5, 1)

```

**Result:** `300.0`

**Note:** Returns depreciation for period 1: (1000−100) × 5 / (5×6/2) = 300.

```js
SYD(1000, 100, 5, 2)

```

**Result:** `240.0`

**Note:** Returns depreciation for period 2: (1000−100) × 4 / (5×6/2) = 240.

```js
SYD(1000, 100, 5, 5)

```

**Result:** `60.0`

**Note:** Returns depreciation for period 5: (1000−100) × 1 / (5×6/2) = 60.
