# FORMATDATE 

Converts an Excel date serial number to a string in the format 'yyyy-MM-dd'.

```js
FORMATDATE(date_value)
```

#### Parameters

* `date_value` - The Excel date serial number to format.

#### Examples

```js
FORMATDATE(44444.5)

```

**Result:** `2021-01-01`
