# EDATE 

Calculates the date that is the specified number of months before or after a given date.

```js
EDATE(start_date, months)
```

#### Parameters

* `start_date` - The start date or time value, represented as an Excel date value.
* `months` - The number of months before or after the start date.

#### Examples

```js
EDATE("2022-04-17", -3)

```

**Result:** `44578`

**Note:** Calculates the date that is 3 months before the start date (2022-04-17).

```js
EDATE(45033, 12)

```

**Result:** `45399`

**Note:** Calculates the date that is 12 months after the start date (45033).
